FAQ

How tall are you?
I am 5ft 7inches

What was your starting weight and when did you start to document your life changes?
My staring weight was 70kgs/154.4lbs and I started documenting my improvements as of March 5th 2011

How much do you weigh now and what are your clothing sizes?
I weigh 58kgs/127.86lbs and my clothing size is around an 8 these days. Depending on the style of the item.

What does your before and after look like? Do you have a progress blog?
You can see my 3month progress photo here and I just post pictures on my blog of how I am looking these days.

Do you use protein powder for weight loss and muscle gain? If so, what do you use?
I used to use Science in Sport Rego Recovery Powder which was a recommendation of a friend (who happens to be a sports scientist as well).
My muscles do generally get sore after working out and I was finding it hard for me to keep running every day. This supplement definitely worked for me however I have changed and am using something different now.

PHD Pharma Whey which was another recommendation from a friend. I buy it in bulk, save a lot of money, and use it in my protein balls, protein bars, cereal and smoothies.

What exercise do you do?
I do a number of exercises each day and I run. I love to run and completed my first 10K at the end of July. I am hoping to enter a 5K before the year ends. Ideally, I would like to complete a half marathon when I turn 30.

The apps I use on my phone are noted below and NO I do not use every single one of these every single day. I pick and choose what I feel like depending on how much time I have and if I am working out before or after my full time job. I do not have a gym membership however I do have access to the full sized gym at work. For the majority of my weight loss, I used the great outdoors and my lounge room. You can too!

I do regular BodyRock.tv workouts and you can follow the beautiful Zuzana and Freddy by clicking on the link. See my scores on my BodyRock.Tv page here. I do not have a dip station, Ugi ball, fitball or sandbag nor can I skip inside my house. I make variations to the workouts as best as I can, to make the most of what I have. Some variations I use are:

Skipping high knees – I just do regular high knees, making sure my back is straight and I am not leaning back
Reverse push ups with dip station – I use my lounge room table to pull myself up under
Knee ups/V ups with dip station – I use my kitchen bench
Sandbag squats etc – I use a dumbbell that was handed down to me from my sisters fiancé. It weighs 7.5kgs/16.53lbs
Ugi ball – I try to use the dumbbell weights as best as I can, but most of the time just use my own body weight (which is still more than enough!)

What do you eat?
I eat like a full grown man. I NEVER go hungry and I try to eat 5 times per day.

I pretty much only drink water as well. I cut out soda/soft drinks from my diet a long time ago now. If I feel like it, I may have some sugar free squash in my water, but it is pretty rare really.

A typical day for me would be something along the lines of:

Breakfast: Overnight oats or porridge with quakers oats, soy milk/almond milk, sultanas, fruit, cinnamon, protein powder, ground flax seeds and honey or agave nectar.

Snack: Apple cut up with some cinnamon.

Lunch: Left over’s from the night before or a low fat turkey enchilada.

Snack: Small pot of Fage 0% fat Greek yoghurt with sultanas and a bit of honey.

Dinner: Fish, veggies, salads, enchiladas, meatballs, omelettes (you are better off looking at My Food page as I take pictures of all the awesome stuff we make!)
I also drink Options Mint Madness Hot Chocolate for something sweet before bed if I feel like it (only 38 calories!).

If it’s the weekend, I would make a smoothie or maybe have some wholemeal toast with peanut butter & honey or vegemite on it. Perhaps even make a protein pancake etc. Whatever I feel like!

Your progress picture is cool. How did you make it?
My beautiful friend Michelle as I am completely and utterly clueless when it comes to picture editing and photo shop and all that stuff! She is also a very talented photography and SUPER cool chick - so follow her if you want to!

What other blogs do you follow?
I follow loads of blogs and they are not all about fitness and eating healthy. I live a normal life as well as being conscious of what I put into and what I get out of my body.

Jess Fini is an effing babe from Aus and writes from the heart. Every post is sincere and I admire her strength.

Greg is another total babe and tells it how it is.
Both Jess and Greg are awesome and I have TOTAL respect for them.

Sam - I swear we would be awesome mates if we lived in the same country!

Michelle - My best buddy and the most awesome girl you will ever meet.
