Isn’t it funny how some people just want the time to go faster, to either get to the weekend or get to a certain date that they are aiming for? Well, right now I want the time to slow dowwnnnn. It feels like only yesterday when I posted about my last workout, when it was nearly a week ago.
Within that time, I have now become a fully fledged member of Atticus. My workload is massive and you would think that working from home, I might be able to relax a little. No way! Each day I worked last week, I barely even got up to go to the bathroom. I need to get into a routine, where I start work on time and finish work on time. It is funny how when you wake up and are up and around - the laptop just calls for you at 8am. I have probably spent double the amount of time working last week than I ever did in a week at Lacoste. Time to slap my wrists…. STOP OVER DOING IT!
Ok, lecture is over and now for the fun stuff.
This was my running outfit for Thursday. It’s funny, since I was wearing this top I actually felt like I needed to run twice as fast around people. I didn’t want anyone to think that “running like a girl” involved running slowly, so I picked up the pace a little bit. It was nice to have that push.
Hill run with sprints
10 x 5 burpees
10 x 5 bench jumps
42mins in total and I burnt 584 Kcal during this workout.
I bumped into Michelle while she was on the way out the door to work and she basically looked at me and went “ewwwwww you’re so sweaty!”. Well yes, yes I am! I was pretty happy with my newly included burpees into this hilly run. Next time I might even try and go for 10 of each… Hmmmm.. How crazy can I go?

5 man makers
20 low burpee hops
10 twisted push ups
25 comp sit ups
Repeat the above circuit 3 times. This is a time challenge so you need to write down how long it took you.
My time today was 13min 44seconds and I burnt 200Kcal.
*I don’t have dumbbells at home so I had to improvise using my sandbag. I completed 1 push up, kissed my sandbag, then completed a clean and press with it.
I also used my sandbag for the sit ups. Man, what a burn!
This was my outfit for a quick visit to our new office in Central on Thursday afternoon. I stuck around and had some beers with our new friends and my boss. It was really nice and the weather was perfect for the typical “London drinking on the sidewalk”.
Friday night I met up with Janine and some other old Lacoste mates for a farewell. It was really nice to see everyone, even though it had only been a week or so since I left. I love just being down the road. It means that I can catch up with everyone (especially Janine) and it will be easy.
Speaking of Janine, she came over on Saturday to watch Jackass with me and eat some pizza! It was so nice to see her and have a yarn as we always do. We are so lucky that we live just a small bus trip away from each other.
Sunday I went for lunch with Michelle, her dad, dads partner, sister and sisters friend. It was lovely and I ate everything I could get my hands on. It’s funny, I always seem to crave hot meals. I totally put that down to not having access to a microwave at Lacoste. All my lunches for 2 years were basically cold or room temperature. Now I have a craving for a nice hot, home style cooked meal. So I had chili! It wasn’t as good as my chili, but it was a pretty close second.
So now it is Monday already and I am super busy at work again. To be honest, when I am done with the day, I don’t really feel like sitting down and typing out a blog post. I might have to try and post once a week or something like that. I want to really put effort into my blogging, but I don’t want it to become a chore. I know some of you feel the same way. I want to keep the love alive and of course, keep up with the work outs…. so I think there will be some changes in the future. I will keep you posted. Anyways, hope you all have a good week. Monday is officially over ;)
This morning I found it super hard to get out of bed again. My body feels stiff all over from the weekend just passed, and I think that regardless of all the dancing, walking, drinking, partying I did - sleeping on the ground for three nights does not do wonders for anyone.
I was originally going to get out of bed and go for a run or do a workout in the lounge room, but to be honest none of those options sounded better than having an extra bit of bed time.
Lunch today was more of that amazing Farro Salad that I have made in the past. It is so simple and easy to make up - it really does only take about 10mins.
The weather was so lovely and warm today. I am truly blessed to be able to work from my lounge room right now and have all the windows in the house open. Working in a big office can definitely have its pro’s but not being able to open a window to let fresh air in, really does suck.

10 dive bombers
20 squats to leg lift on each leg
10 side plank lift per side
10 pistol squats on each leg
Repeat the above circuit 3 times. This is a time challenge so you need to write down how long it took you.
My time today was 19mins 55 seconds and I burnt 251Kcal.
*I can’t complete full pistol squats so mine were assisted by holding onto my dining chairs and going as low as I could.
Talk about sweaty Betty afterwards. It was pouring off me and it took my heart rate a bit longer than usual to get back down to where it belongs. I highly recommend this workout and future Zwow’s I post. You don’t need any equipment - just your body weight and around 20mins each day.
There are no excuses - this IS the best time to start getting back into it or even start workout, if you needed a nudge.
Yesterday it was my best friend Michelle’s Birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BESTIE
I have known Michelle since I started working with her in 2010. We were close during the year I worked with her but really became best mates when I left to start working with Lacoste. I can’t imagine my life without Michelle in it and I am really looking forward to seeing what this new year of being 28 has in stall for her and us. Thanks for being such a good friend/house mate/surrogate sister - I am so lucky!
So for Birthday celebrations, last night we met up with Michelle’s sister Claire and some of her colleagues for a game of Rounders in Hyde Park. It was such a lovely afternoon in the sun! All the people we played with were so lovely and welcomed us into their group with open arms.
Hours of Rounders
We split into teams and played for a more than a few hours. I was really worried that I wasn’t going to be able to hit or catch the ball, but I managed to hold my own and not make a fool of myself. I must admit though, it was quite tricky to see once the sun went down and we had more than 3 beers under our belts.
Hyde Park was so busy but we managed to find a nice patch of grass all to ourselves. Look how great the weather was!
This was The Serpentine in the evening. Such a beautiful location and to be honest, my crappy iPhone picture here just does not do it justice.
This weekend we are going to continue celebrating Michelle’s birthday - I’ll be sure to post some “appropriate” pictures on Sunday :)
This weekend just passed, 20 or so of us girls from work, ran the Race for Life in Regent’s Park.
Race for Life is a fundraising event to help find a cure for Cancer. There are races held all over England with either a 5K or 10K distance. You can run, walk, jog or crawl – completely up to you! It is a really energetic and positive day out. As you know, Cancer is a disease that has affected my family for a number of years. I ran the Race for Life in 2011 and also wrote about my experience with finding a lump in my breast.
The Friday before the race, we held a bake sale at work. Most of the girls baked homemade treats and we managed to raise over £420! Not bad considering we sold cakes at £1 only. It really was such a great way to raise awareness for the run and also give everyone a little sugar hit on a Friday afternoon.
We conveniently set up shop outside the canteen and I am sure that had a lot to do with it.
Saturday morning we all met at Regent’s Park, supporters in tow. For me it was so much better than the last time I ran. It was great to be surrounded by friends and it really took the edge of the incredible urge I had to just break down crying. Cancer really does suck :/
Congratulations to all the ladies who participated in the race. Special shout outs to Sarah, who placed 22nd and Alice who placed 69th out of EVERYONE. Also, Anita – who was so hung over she had to vomit on her way to the race, but still managed to complete the course without any further incidents.
If you would like to sponsor us, you are still able to on the website below:
All in all we have smashed our fundraising goal of £2,000. I am super proud to have been a part of the team this year and I really hope that I can do the same next year.
I hope everyone had a good weekend! I did. Saturday morning I went for a nice early run to start the day, then did some chores around the house.
I am loving how my stomach is starting to tone up a bit more. Maybe it is the mirror or the lighting, I don’t know, but I am pretty stoked at how things are starting to look.
Saturday night Michelle and I went to a friend’s birthday party, where the fancy dress theme was R. We went as Roller Derby Girls! It was such a comfortable and good costume to wear. Sneakers, shorts and a shirt? Easy! Oh, we also watched “Whip It” before we got ready just to make sure we were in the mood.
Drinking is a dangerous sport - make sure you wear appropriate elbow, knee and wrist guards if you usually require supervision :)
Sunday was a bit of a write off with regards to my energy levels – but I did manage to make my lunches for the week and watch about 5 hours of TV.
Man, I really couldn’t be bothered with working out today. I stayed in bed for a little bit too long and ended up having to rush to the gym. It’s funny, although I have plenty of time to get to the gym and workout, my brain tells me that if I get to the gym after 7.15am then I am late.
I worked on shoulders today and was actually surprised at how bearable the 20kg press was. It would be so awesome if we had a rack at my gym, but we don’t, so I have to kind of clean the bar up to my chest, awkwardly sit down and get into the right position to complete the shoulder presses. Then just as I am struggling with the last few reps, I basically have to drop the bar on my lap and then stand up and put it on the floor. LAME. One day that’s not going to work too well and something is going to end up bruised.
Barbell shoulder press
10kg – warm up sets 2 x 20 reps
15kg – 3 x 10 reps
20kg – 3 x 10 reps
Upright Barbell row
20kg – 4 x 8 reps
Side lateral raises
6kg – 4 x 10 reps
Front raise with plate
10kg – 3 x 10 reps
Singe bent over row
12kg – 3 x 10
Alternate hammer bicep curl
10kg – 2 x 8 reps
277Kcal burnt in this workout.
I have three weeks of work left at Lacoste. As much as I love working here and I enjoy everyones company, I really want to get started on my new job and get stuck in. I am so excited and can’t wait to share news with everyone J
Man, do I have that Friday feeling or what?! WHAT?!! I don’t even have plans tonight. I am just really excited about going home. Not drinking. Watching some catch up TV. Passing out early. Man, I am getting old aren’t I? I think it is because of the four day week after the Bank Holiday long weekend. It always feels like it drags.
Don’t judge me too much. Tuesday night Michelle and I went to go and see Bring Me The Horizon at Koko. It was awesome and we had such a good night, singing along and dancing as per usual.
Just a small crowd really.
This is the shirt I was wearing. I bought it from General Pants in Australia when I was there earlier this year. Pretty cool huh? Surf’s up!
I look like I have beaver teeth in this photo, but I love it anyway!
So I wasn’t really in the mood to get up and go for a workout on Wednesday morning. I was feeling a bit dusty and knew that I would make it up to myself on Thursday.
So, a tangent - my little brother was living in Canada the last few years, but at the moment he is in Tasmania with my Mum, before starting a snow season at Falls Creek in Victoria. Mum and Spike are teasing me by sending through beautiful photos of the sunset view from mum’s place.
I love a sun burnt country…
